Support Local Trails

Isinglass Trails is a new establishment with an estimated annual budget somewhere between $5000 and $15,000. This includes estimates for groomer maintenance, website upkeep, insurance, fuel, signage, heavy equipment operation, used skis and snowshoes to lend, materials for construction projects like small simple bridges and mobile warming shelters, and likely much more that has not been predicted and will present itself over the years. Isinglass Trails will provide transparency on expenditures and progress periodically so we can know what to expect and what to ask for. This is not a money-making venture. All labor will be performed free of charge as dedication to the local community. Isinglass Trails can accomplish this due to a preexisting professional winter tree work business with relevant equipment and skill set.

A significant reason for creating this trail system is local kids. Equipment is available to borrow for those who don't have any but would like to try. Exercise, problem-solving, developing outdoor skills, interacting with nature, positive reinforcement, and exposure to new things can nurture friendships and healthy habits. All these things together stand a chance of putting a measurable dent in the poverty cycle. As the trail system matures, one can expect more and more opportunities for children to be included regardless of experience level.

Isinglass Trails is registered as an llc to provide an additional layer of indemnity on top of carrying commercial liability insurance. This means small donations are NOT tax-deductible. If you are interested in making a large ($1000 or more) donation and would like to write it off, please contact Isinglass Trails directly as there are legal options to use local non-profits to grant money to Isinglass Trails provided they have a compatible mission statement.

Check or cash donations are much appreciated as they are not subject to the 3% credit card processing fee, although please don’t hesitate to use the donate button if it makes it easier for you.

It will probably take a fair amount of time for Isinglass Trails to get really good, with lots of confusing hurdles to overcome. Thank you for your optimism and patience as we try to make something amazing happen.
